Question 1

What is Cabin?

Accepted Answer

Cabin is a real-time voice translation app. It listens to speech, translates it as the words come out, and shows or speaks the result in the language each person chose — across face-to-face conversations, online meetings and live events.

Question 2

Which devices does Cabin run on?

Accepted Answer

Cabin runs on Android and iOS for conversations on the move, on macOS and Windows for meetings and anything your computer plays, and in any modern browser when you do not want to install anything.

Question 3

Can two people share one phone to talk?

Accepted Answer

Yes, on the mobile app, and this is the fastest way to use Cabin. Split one pair of earbuds — you keep one, the other person takes the other, both paired to the same phone. Cabin speaks your words into their ear in their language and theirs into yours, on separate audio channels, so no second phone and no second account is needed. Note that the left/right split needs wired earbuds; over Bluetooth the audio is downmixed to mono while the mic is active.

Question 4

Do I have to hold the phone or press anything while talking?

Accepted Answer

No. Cabin is hands-free once a conversation starts: it listens, translates and speaks the result aloud on its own. The phone can stay in your pocket or on the table, so you never pass a device back and forth mid-sentence.

Question 5

Does Cabin translate in real time?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Cabin translates while someone is still talking instead of waiting for the end of a sentence, so the translation reaches the listener almost immediately and the conversation keeps its natural rhythm.

Question 6

Will we hear both languages talking over each other?

Accepted Answer

No. The original speech and the translation are kept on independent audio channels, so each person hears only the language they chose instead of two voices overlapping.

Question 7

Do the people I talk to need the app?

Accepted Answer

To speak and be translated back, yes — the other person either shares your earbuds on one phone, or joins from their own phone or Cabin Desktop by scanning a QR or typing a 6-character code. To only follow along, no: you can share a link and any number of people read and listen in a browser with no app and no account.

Question 8

Can someone join from a browser and speak?

Accepted Answer

No. A browser guest is a follower, not a participant — they read the live translation and can have it read aloud in their own language, but they cannot speak into the session. Speaking requires the phone app or Cabin Desktop.

Question 9

How many people can join?

Accepted Answer

A conversation room pairs two speakers, one on each device. The number of people following along in a browser is not limited, and each of them picks their own language independently.

Question 10

Can Cabin translate a Zoom, Google Meet or Teams call?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with Cabin Desktop. It translates the sound your computer plays, so there is no plugin to add and no meeting bot to invite.

Question 11

How many languages does Cabin support?

Accepted Answer

Cabin translates across 80+ languages, and any language in the set can be translated into any other — not just to and from English.

Question 12

How is Cabin billed?

Accepted Answer

You are billed for the time people are actually speaking. Silence is not charged, and a live meter in the app shows what the current session costs.

Question 13

Is my audio stored?

Accepted Answer

Your audio is processed in real time and is never used to train models. Transcripts are kept only so you can review or export a session, and you can delete them.

Question 14

Where can I download the Cabin app?

Accepted Answer

Cabin is available now on Google Play for Android and on the App Store for iOS. Cabin Desktop for macOS and Windows is available as a public beta, or you can use Cabin directly in any modern browser.
