Set up Cabin in five minutes
From installing the app to putting live subtitles in front of an audience. Skip any step you have already done.
Download the .dmg that matches your Mac, open it, then drag Cabin into your Applications folder.
Version 0.1.0 · beta · Not sure which Mac you have? Open the Apple menu → About This Mac. "Apple M1" or later means Apple silicon.
Always drag Cabin into Applications before opening it. Running it from the disk image or the Downloads folder makes macOS reset its microphone and screen-recording permissions on every launch.
If something does not work
macOS says Cabin "cannot be opened because Apple cannot check it"
This should not happen_ the macOS build is signed with ThinkPrompt_s Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple_ It usually means the download was interrupted and the _dmg is incomplete_ Delete it_ download again_ and make sure Cabin is in your Applications folder_
macOS keeps asking for microphone permission every time
Cabin is being run from the disk image or Downloads instead of Applications. macOS isolates it in a random read-only location so permissions cannot stick. Drag Cabin into Applications and open it from there.
No text appears at all
Check that the correct audio source is selected and that something is actually playing. If you picked a system-audio mode on macOS, confirm Cabin is enabled under Screen & System Audio Recording and restart the app.
Cabin hears itself and translates its own voice
Turn voice-over off, or use headphones. Cabin disables voice-over automatically for system-audio modes for exactly this reason.
System audio is silent on macOS
This is almost always the Screen & System Audio Recording permission. Enable Cabin under System Settings → Privacy & Security, then quit and reopen Cabin — macOS only applies the change on restart.
Names and jargon come out wrong
Add the agenda, slides or a glossary to the context library before the session. Cabin uses it to get speaker names, product names and domain terms right.
