Yes, on the mobile app, and this is the fastest way to use Cabin. Split one pair of earbuds — you keep one, the other person takes the other, both paired to the same phone. Cabin speaks your words into their ear in their language and theirs into yours, on separate audio channels, so no second phone and no second account is needed. Note that the left/right split needs wired earbuds; over Bluetooth the audio is downmixed to mono while the mic is active.

Do I have to hold the phone or press anything while talking?

No. Cabin is hands-free once a conversation starts: it listens, translates and speaks the result aloud on its own. The phone can stay in your pocket or on the table, so you never pass a device back and forth mid-sentence.

Does Cabin translate in real time?

Yes. Cabin translates while someone is still talking instead of waiting for the end of a sentence, so the translation reaches the listener almost immediately and the conversation keeps its natural rhythm.

Will we hear both languages talking over each other?

No. The original speech and the translation are kept on independent audio channels, so each person hears only the language they chose instead of two voices overlapping.

Do the people I talk to need the app?

To speak and be translated back, yes — the other person either shares your earbuds on one phone, or joins from their own phone or Cabin Desktop by scanning a QR or typing a 6-character code. To only follow along, no: you can share a link and any number of people read and listen in a browser with no app and no account.

Can someone join from a browser and speak?

No. A browser guest is a follower, not a participant — they read the live translation and can have it read aloud in their own language, but they cannot speak into the session. Speaking requires the phone app or Cabin Desktop.

A conversation room pairs two speakers, one on each device. The number of people following along in a browser is not limited, and each of them picks their own language independently.

Yes, with Cabin Desktop. It translates the sound your computer plays, so there is no plugin to add and no meeting bot to invite.
